Beach Mandalas

From gift cards to wall-sized custom artwork, Alicia at Beach Mandalas can bring a little (or big) piece of the seaside into your home. She specialises in hand-drawn or hand-printed artworks but she also has the most adorable range of pebble mandala artwork too. Find out more about this fledgling handmaidens venture below:

When did your work begin and why?

I started Beach Mandalas in March 2017. After a long walk at the beach picking up pebbles I thought it would be great to create a mandala with them. Hence the name, Beach Mandalas. I'd also been drawing mandalas for years, and this gave me the freedom to try out new finishes and designs.

Where do you draw your inspiration for your products from?

I draw inspiration for my products from spending time at the beach, and observing patterns and fractals in nature.

What is your favourite thing about producing handmade products?

I'm a graphic designer and web developer so I'm always creating things to other people's briefs, and always digitally. I love that creating stone pieces and drawing framed mandalas lets me make things that I want to make, and that are not pixel perfect. It's a lesson in letting go, embracing imperfections and seeing the bigger picture...
