Mama Maya Blankets
Our extended family is expecting a new baby in the coming weeks... and this baby is truly a miracle. It's taken many years and many people (egg donors and surrogates included) for this baby to be and so a fitting gift, I thought, was a baby blanket with a difference.
What are Mama Maya Blankets?
These blankets are designed in Australia, ethically and sustainably made in India from organic cotton and come with a reusable cotton drawstring bag. For every blanket sold, Mama Maya provide funding for 1 Clean Birthing Kit and Caregiver Training (provided through The Birthing Kit Foundation Australia) to at least one new mother worldwide. This kit and training will "enable mothers to give birth in a cleaner environment, reducing post-natal infections for both mother and baby", something which we take for granted here in Australia.

You can purchase a blanket directly through their website (and all Australian orders of two blankets or more receive FREE SHIPPING too). Blankets are priced at $38 each and come in three colours; grey spot (shown above), ink spot (black) and salmon spot (pink).
